Charity Watch

There’s a reason that so many organizations have an annual gala: while it can be a bit of work, it also has huge pay offs when it’s done well. A trend we’ve seen in recent years is taking your gala virtual (which we lovingly call an Ungala) or even hybrid, which can make it less work and upfront cost.

Nonprofit gala

Even before COVID hit, live streaming was increasing in popularity. It allows you to connect with your supporters in the moment in a way that feels authentic. It lets viewers interact through comments and participate in a conversation. That feeling of being with other people and doing something together is incredibly powerful.

There are plenty of options for live streaming: Facebook Live, Youtube, Zoom, or any of a number of custom software. Plan a livestream for the end of a fundraising campaign to gain excitement and to celebrate the end, or kick off the event with a live stream.

Pick a Software Package

For many people, the most confusing part of live streaming is the technology. But with just a bit of guidance, it doesn’t have to be overwhelming. This is where your goals are going to come into play in a big way.

There are three main platforms that you can use for live streaming: Zoom, Facebook Live, and Youtube Live. There are other platforms out there, however, these three are familiar to most people and satisfy most needs.

Charity Watch

CharityWatch works to uncover and report on wrongdoing in the nonprofit sector by conducting in-depth analyses of the audited financial statements, tax forms, fundraising contracts, and other reporting of nonprofits, issuing charity ratings on an "A+" to "F" scale. Unlike many other online sources of charity data that function as crowdsourcing websites or quasi-trade associations for charities, CharityWatch is fully committed to advocating for the interests of the donating public. Our ratings are not derived from algorithms or other largely automated systems that take the reporting of charities at face value without adequate analysis.

Inigo Jones knew of the King’s disappointment with his previous building, so he drew up plans for a completely different, classical building. Jones had travelled widely in France and Italy, where he made copious notes and drawings of the architecture of ancient Rome and the Renaissance. Inspired by the classical forms he encountered on his travels, he adapted elements of the buildings he had witnessed, and reinterpreted them in a new and unique way, to suit his royal patrons. His spectacular Banqueting House building was completed in 1622, to the King’s great delight and the astonishment of all who surveyed it.
